Honesty the best policy?

Appraisal day at work today. Think I might as well level with my boss, and tell him that this is one of the worst jobs I've ever had. This is only really caused by a few issues with the job - lack of contact with *anyone* important in the bank eg front office, lack of team spirit, no-one appearing to give a fuck about what I'm going to be doing in the next few months, etc. But taken together these have got me hating this job, and I'm finding it difficult to even get out of bed in the mornings and get to work. My performance has nose-dived, and I really don't see me being here in 3 months time, so I'd better raise these issues and see if they can come up with anything that can compare with what the headhunters I'm about to start mail-bombing can. I've seen *loads* of jobs I'd love to do on job-sites the last 2 months - the City is red hot for work at the moment, esp. in risk analysis (market, credit - hell, even operational, legal, etc, which I could easily move into) and related fields. Time to get out of IT Support, methinks.

It worked with me last year; this place is reasonably receptive to such honesty as far as I have seen

Yes, honesty is definitely the best policy in your circs. If you're thinking of leaving anyway, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain by laying it on the line. Who knows, they may even fix everything that's bothering you at the moment. My idiot boss got fired so I have faith at the moment!

Which job sites do you use? I'm not looking for work at the moment but I probably will be next year due to restructuring at my current place and risk analysis and management (operational mostly) is something I do at the moment and wouldn't mind doing more of in the future.

I tend to look at:

cityjobs.com
reed.co.uk

as between them they have most of the City vacancies going.

Ta. I shall remember those for when I start looking again.

It's the only time you can be honest. The look of panic and pain on my boss's face during my recent appraisal made it worthwhile.
